Who: Chew Lip Heng, Director at atomz i! pte. ltd. and carbon interactive pte. ltd.

How: Chew created LinkedIn Groups to help connect interested members with diverse backgrounds. Some of these groups, like “Singapore Red Cross” stemmed from offline activities and helped volunteers stay connected with each other even when not involved in ongoing activities; while others like “High Reliability Organising” started as online platforms which then led to offline meetings and opportunities.

Deepanjali Pandey

What: "Found husband’s missing laptop 15,000 kilometres away, via LinkedIn’s advanced search"
Who: Deepanjali Pandey,  previous managing editor at ACP Magazines (The Singapore Women’s Weekly)
Where: Singapore
Used LinkedIn to: Locate and connect with a fellow traveler who had mistakenly flown off with the wrong laptop, and secure the laptop's safe return
How: Another traveler had mistakenly swapped laptops with Deepanjali’s husband, Surya, at the Mumbai airport. With their only clue being the name of the company marked on the other traveler’s laptop, the couple were able to use LinkedIn’s search functionalities to locate a current employee on the network – one of Surya’s old classmates. One invitation to connect, a phone call and a few emails later; and the HR heads of the company in question had identified and put Surya in contact with the client who had flown to Sweden with his laptop to secure its return – all within just two days.
